sesame Street

I haven't made any thing with these characters yet but will do something soon. They were all cut at 5" except for the duck on the bottom right hand corner. Elmo, Cookie Monster and Oscar were easy to cut and put together, but Bert, Ernie and Big Bird will have to be cut larger again. If I would be using all the characters in one scrapbook layout, I would have to re size them to so that they were in proportion.

Serger purse

This is a neck hanging purse that I saw on "Sewing With Nancy Show" this past Saturday. Done very quickly once I figured the size that I wanted to make it. Done with 4 different fabrics that I had left from another project. First picture is how you would view it closed around your neck. Next picture is opened and there is a pocket and also you are able to put keys or money in the top and then you would fold it down. I did end up topstitching to make it lay flatter and still need to use a turner to get the corners better.

Cardmaking, Easter

I found the bunny and the Happy Easter stamps in the dollar bin @ Pat Catans so I did stamp them to try them out. I used basic grey water based dye ink from Stampin' Up and colored with the Stampin up markers that I received as gift from someone special. I am not really a stamper and have very few stamps, but I do like the looks that I have seen others do on their cards. I used stickles to the bunny and the center of the flowers as well as the smiley face on Happy. The punch is a border that I really like and added the pink paper with stickles. I just happened to have the perfect ribbon in the green and put it all together. The scallop circles are both from punches and the flower was cut from the Cricut PS. At least I'll get a start with Easter a little more than six weeks away. With the snow outside, I needed something that looks springlike.

Cardmaking

One of my newer cards for this month. Used Going Places and cut the motorcycle at 2 1/2" in a silver shiny paper and shadow blackout in orange. The Birthday Wishes was from a printed image, just on layers of black and orange. The arrow was also from Going Places Cut in Black for the shadow and orange outline. Found the background paper in fall pack on black card stock cut in A 2 size.

Cardmaking

I can't take the credit for this card except that I provided the materials. My daughter made this card in reply to be in a wedding. Used Cricut Design Studio for the welding of the letters. The dress was made from PDDU cartridge using the dancer dress( page 71 in book) and lace was glued on the bottom of the skirt. The apron was also from PPDU, it was Pioneer girl (page 65) which was sized in the Design Studio. Most of all she used Stickles to add the glitz to the letters and apron.

Quilting

So, I guess I am not done sharing with you different Hearts for Valentine's Day. This is one of four placemats tha I created from a book of Lynette Jensen, only used the heart part of a tablerunner. I was able to cut strips of my scraps and it was quilted as it was stitched on a base of backing and batting. I marked the different angles that I wanted right on the backing with a erasable marker. What you do is hide the exposed seamline with a strip going in a different direction. The binding was cut on the bias to be able to go around the curves.

Black, White and Red Table Runner

This year, I've said that I wouldn't start anything new until I finished some of the projects that I have already started....but when I say this table runner with the black, red and white fabric, I was determined to get it done and finished it while completing other projects. I even did it in a one block version to be used on a small table that I have. Unfortunately the bright red does not show as well on the pictures. I am using an old camera with 1.3 mega pixels while my daughter uses the other camera for a class that she is taking. It needs more quilting and eventually it will get done . I have some cards posted also using the black, red and white but in papers.

Quilting

This is a small table topper or wall hanging done a few years ago but since it is so close to Valentines Day, I decided to post it. It is done in burgandys so that you could use it all year round.

Cardmaking

Two more Valentine's cards using the Martha Stewart punch on white cardstock. They were both embossed using Cuttle Bug swiss dots folder. The lettering on both cards were done on the computer, then cut out with a rotary cutter. The flowers on the first card were done on the Cricut the same size with two different pink cardstock. The second has a silk flower with a rhinestone sticker in the center. Both cards are A 2 size.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
A wall hanging using squares and half square triangles. Great project to be able to use up scraps of fabric, except for the binding and backing. Quilted in the ditch and on the dark pink hearts, 1/4" from the ditch. I love to piece things but hate to quilt by hand or machine.

Tulip Bag

Before I gave this bag away to a friend, I did take a picture which is always a good idea when you create something. It was embroidered using the Viking Designer 1 with tulips. The 3 stacked tulips on the left were mirrored and then stacked. It was pieced, then quilted with ribbon also as an embellishment. The handle has a layer of batting on the inside, then added stitching to make it more sturdy. The back side of the bag is also the same as the front. Pockets were added to the inside,

Cricut Poster

Finally most of the snow is melted. Away from the computer yesterday. I was finishing a tablerunner for Valentines Day. The picture that I am posting today is a poster made for my daughters boyfriend B'day. I used Locker Talk for the camera, Ipod, Phone and Computer done with a shiny silver paper. The screen on the computer was cut out and replaced with a picture that was taken at a Nascar race they attended. The lettering was from Plantin Schoolbook in blue with the shadow feature cut out in silver paper also.

These two fabric cards fit in a business size envelope. The one on the left was fussy cut from a fabric that has angel designs as well as the boxes with words.
The black and pink card has hearts that were just free motioned cut and then stitched on.

Saturday, February 7, 2009

Since I was busy running around yesterday, I have to post the fabric cards that I created using timtex ( a very heavy type of stabilizer).
The first was a paper pieced Heart, then added borders to make it the size of a postcard. I did add binding to finish this card. The heart was printed from EQ and sometimes I am not sure what size I want to make it so this was the smaller size @2 1/4" square and just used scraps .
The second one is done postcard size with a valentine fabric, part of a heart doily and ribbon. a satin stitch was done on the outside edge and the "Be Mine" was fussy cut from a fabric and also the heart was done with a zig zag stitch.

Cricut Cardmaking

1) Using Hello Kitty Cartridge and the card feature and using stickles on the separate I Love You.
2) The heart was from Happily Ever after and the lettering was done on the computer and then put through the Cuttlebug. The ric rac is also a cut file done in DS so that I had cut a whole page of different sizes. Size of the card was A 2.

3) Very easy using the black and white papers, adding a heart cut in Plantin Schoolbook then was embossed with the heart folder. Again used the computer for the lettering. Size of the card was A 2.

4) Again using black and white paper with a black ribbon separating them. Cut and embossed 3 pink hearts and re was a shadow cut. The red stamp is from the Cuttlebug cut and embossed although it is hard to see. Lettering from the computer since I don't have many rubber stamps and I find it easier to just use the computer to print exactly what I want and then cut the words out.

This is a poster made with the Cricut. I used Hello Kitty Cartridge and also Pooh Font. The Kitty with heart balloons were cut at 10 1/2" and I trimmed the string to fit the shadow cut at 9 1/2" in order to fit, I still think the shadow feature should have been smaller. I used the Cuttlebug to emboss the letters and also the cupcake with the Swiss Dot folder. Although you can't tell in the picture.

Well, after so many years on the internet, I finally created a Blog. Now what! I need more time in my day to get everything done! Will share when I get more time.
