Christmas for the Dogs

These are the projects that I made for my son and daughters new puppies:

The first one is a coordinating fabric that I made stockings for her last year. I did quilt the fabric on a grid pattern at 1" apart with gold metallic thread.....and the name was done in a rayon red thread that was embroidered before I put on the cuff. The "Snuggies were bought for three dollars each and I changed the size of the font to embroider in white rayon thread.

For the second puppy, I had the paw print fleece and decided to use that with felt for the cuff and embroidered in white rayon thread. I had to make the font smaller to fit in the area of the cuff.

Since Serenity is female and all they had was the blue Snuggie, I added the eyelet trim all around the bottom edge and also made the font smaller to fit in the hoop.

Fall Embroidery

I have been enjoying the weather lately before it turns snowy and this is a project that I created awhile ago.
Using my off white scraps, I created this place mat size table cover. The squares are only 2.5" so they do use the smallest of scraps. After piecing, I did the embroidery with several layers of stabilizer because the design is very dense(43,398 stitches) I the added the border and then since it was small, I quilted just around the border and the design. Added a binding and was done. Could have been quicker if I put the batting, backing and front with right sides together, stitch and then turned.. This is a closeup of the Deb Strain design.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

This pumpkin is pieced and then embroidery is added for the face. The stippling is done in a metallic thread that is pre-programmed in my machine, as well as an outline stitch outlining the pumpkin face. Added a binding to finish. It is only about 9" x 11"

Embroidered St Pat's Day

Today, I pulled out two projects for their yearly wearing on St. Patrick's Day. the first is a button on panel that was sized for a white blouse that I have. In between the buttonholes are shamrocks from a Viking embroidery card that had small designs on them. just a nice touch without going too far out because I really don't have any other green clothes.

The next was a design I created in my Pfaff sewing machine before it had hooped designs. It has a clip on the back for either hair or add a safety pin to pin on your coat. Just decorative stitches along both edges of the design and the straight stitches between the shamrocks were cut and removed.

Embroidery

Even though Valentines day is over, I still have a few projects hanging around such as these sucker covers. Done in the hoop out of red felt and trimmed with pinking sheers. Fun and quick project for a gift or just to have in a bowl when someone comes over.

Fleece Baby Quilt

A fleece baby quilt that I made for a great granddaughter that should be born soon.
I bought pink and white fleece and rotary cut it into 6 1/2" squares (size of the ruler). I marked the center of the white squares so that I could embroider them. Next, hooped water soluble stabilizer only, placed the fleece on the stabilizer (did not hoop fabric) and used a basting stitch to hold the fabric in place. I wound bobbins with the rayon thread to match the top thread, this is so that it looks finished from both sides as you can see in the pictures. The designs were actually an applique but I just ran the design without adding the top fabric. After everything was embroidered I laid out the design on the table alternating plain pink squares with the white ones. Using a stretch needle, an even feed foot, I sewed the squares together with 1/2" seams in rows with a triple stitch. I needed to make it larger so that I added rows of a border around the edges cutting fleece 3 1/2". The next part I did while watching tv and that was clip being careful not to cut into the thread. It looks cuter than the pictures show. I hope she enjoys it.

Embroidery Sucker Holders

I guess I haven't been on much lately but do have some things that I wanted to share. These are Sucker Holders out of felt that were done in the embroidery hoop. I think there are two more designs, a cat and pig and were free designs by joining her Yahoo group. These were done by http://shawnsembroiderydesigns.com/. She also does many Finger Puppets and donates them to the Smiles for Children Project and were in a previous post.

Finger Puppets These are just a few of the finger puppets that I made for the Smiles for Children Project. All done in the hoop with felt. In a larger hoop, I was able to get 4 of the same puppets and then edited the designs so that I wouldn't have to change thread for each animal. At the last color change, you slip another layer of felt under the hoop and stitch. The monkey take the longest because his face in all thread but he is too cute. Some have to be slit at the bottom so that you can get your finger inside.

Machine Embroidery

These cute paper dolls were all done in the embroidery hoop for the smiles for Children Project. I did not digitize them but when you send in a required number of designs they will give you a new design that you pick out from over 4 pages of designs. You then embroider them and send them to the group who distributes them. Its a way to help others who have a greater need. Tack it Over and Over is added to the backs that make these stick.

Machine Embroidery

I have been working on these cats which are like paper dolls for a few days. They are made of felt and are embroidered in a hoop. In order to keep the clothes on, you need to add Allene's Tack it Over and Over to the back of the clothes. I love the felt that I found which is printed in the leopard print and also polka dots. The glasses should have clear vinyl but with the new rules from the government and product safety, I left it out. I make these and others for the Smiles For Children Project.
