Christmas in July

Some of my last cards to share today. This house was from Winter Woodland on page 44 that I welded in the Gypsy. Made also in other colors such as a green roof and different patterned paper for the main house. I did size it to fit in an envelope that I had. I went to a class at Archievers and this is one of the cards that used a stamp set. Embossing for the trees and markers were used for the house. Also did several cards using different colors for the house and trees.

The two Season's Greetings cards were made from Winter Woodland. Adding Stickles.

This time the cartridge did the work for these cards by having them welded in the center. The card and tag feature were used. For the inside of card, I just used a holly paper.

WOW! Almost the end of July! The next two cards have two views, the closed and the open showing. This basic card instructions are from:

The snowmen and "Let It Snow are from Winter Woodland that were sized to fit in the Gypsy. The snowflakes are from the leftover from the shower and used various sizes. Stickles were also added for the bling.

The scallopped circle for this card was also cut from Winter Woodland and then run through the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder.

The green card stock was very dark but that is what had matched the green in the paper best. It never shows up best in the pictures. It was cut from Tie the Knot. and embossed with a holly folder on the Cuttlebug. Added a strip of card stock of red polka dot paper that fits around and tied a ribbon over it and added a bow.

Using the Gypsy, the ornament was welded to a tag feature or you could just add this to a rectangle to fit in the pocket. The Peace and Joy was a purchased stamp using gold stamp pad.

I just loved these snowmen on page 46 and 47 from Winter Woodland so I did arrange several on the Gypsy to cut when I first got this cartridge. When you have time, it is always a good idea to cut several images so you can make quick cards, this is one of them.

Taking a A 2 card, I just found the stripe paper and cut to fit the front.
Glued the snowmen and added a Joy to the top which has Stickles. It was cut from Joys of the Seasons. The second card was a welded snowman on the Gypsy to a rectangle from George. all the snowflakes were "leftovers" from the shower earlier in 2010 and just added to the front along with a JOY cut from silver paper. I did add those stones to the front of the snowman and I know they are too big but at the time that is all I had available...

A couple more simple cards. In the fall when I have my craft show, I have such limited time to spend on my Christmas cards but I always want to do different cards so simple is what I end doing to get them done in time.
This card was done with a few cuts from the Cricut but what makes the card is using the Cuttlebug. When I get a new cartridge, I usually cut a few things and then put them aside for future use. This is what happened with this card so that I don't remember what cartridge they were from. The Joy was cut from A Child's Year. Just added a bow and a stone to dot the j. On this second card, the paper was the feature, The Noel was cut from the Christmas cartridge. Everything was sized in the Gypsy so that it would fit on a card size. A little ribbon and a stone in the center was all the other extras.

I have had trouble posting more Christmas cards for the last several days, so hopefully this will work today. Two cards that I couldn't post earlier.

This card was made with the solutions cartridge that was a free download for buying the Gypsy with an offer from Cricut last year. Simple tree cut from this Christmas cartridge using a gold paper and the put on a green paper and just cut the shape around it using my rotary cutter. The stripe paper is from Hobby Lobby. Added stones to the top and the curly parts of the tree.

Bow added to the bottom.The angel and noel is also cut from the same cartridge in the same gold paper and run through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss dots folder. Had some gold brads and used the to put the rectangle on the white card stock.

As with these two cards, you can make them any size to go with the envelopes and paper in your stash.

Another day of simple cards.
Using light blue card stock, make a A2 (4.24 x 5.5), you can get two cards out of 1 sheet of 8.5 x 11' paper. The Snowflake folder was then used and a free hand cut piece of white paper with the D'vine swirl for the snow with stickles added.
Cut from Hello Kitty Greetings, I used the snowman on page 77 using the colors as shown on the page. Remember to always have the real size feature OFF when cutting images that are layered. The greeting Merry Christmas was cut from Wild Card on page 74. The best suggestion for cutting sizes is to use the Gypsy or at least use CDS to get the sizes that you want. You don't have to cut from CDS but it is a tool that helps you get sizes without wasting paper for fitting designs on a page.

Christmas in July

Last year is when I did mostly simple cards for my time was running out for making and sending cards. My craft show was sewing, quilting and embroidery projects but found that the cards that I had done a previous year did not sell.

Done on the Gypsy was this card. It was from Christmas Cheer, stocking 1 on page 35. Welded two blackout features at the hanging top and then cut the cuff, toe and heel out of white paper. Then used Stickles to the white parts. Greetings were on the inside and a name was added later to the top of the stocking.

I added a few more cartridges this week thanks to the sale at Pat Catans with price below $20.00. That is the only way that I will add more to my collection with good prices.

Christmas in July

Very simple card and oh so popular among friends and family was this card. I did find the idea from someone else on the web.
I did use the Gypsy to weld two circles to form a card that was opened at the top. I did size the circles to be 1/2" smaller than the base and the head just a little bit smaller. Embossed each of the circles with a different folder. The "stick arms" are cut from Christmas Cheer page 63 but hid the scarf and hat on the Gypsy. A ribbon was used for the scarf folded slightly off center. Pop dots were used to place the layers together. Stickles were use for the nose and the eyes were small flat black beads.

Since I have been working on wedding stuff and enjoying the weather, I decided to do the Christmas in July CARDS. These were sent last December and I don't think that I ever posted any of them. I am starting with the easiest cards that I used scraps of paper. No Cricut! I did these because I ran out of time and needed a few extra cards to send.
Cut a thin brown scrap of paper for the trunk of the tree. Four different scraps of green cut at various lengths and just glued to a embossed white paper. Added a star brad for the tree top. DONE! When I look at it now, I think I would cut the strips a little narrower and add one more color.This card was done the same way but punched one edge with a border punch and then rounded the top edges with a corner punch.

Very simple but when you have limited time they are easy to do.

Happy 4th of July

Happy July 4!

I did this flag with 2 punches. One is the Martha Stewart punch for the stripes and the stars were punched with a star punch that I ran through the Cuttlebug with the star folder as well as the navy background.
The stripes were cut at 1" x 12" then cut down to the size for the card, done mostly from a scrap papers that I had from other projects.
The USA was cut from Stand and Salute @ 1 3/4". The second card made was from the leftover stripes and another cut from the same cartridge with the border feature and then the white stars added on top.

4th of July decoration

Just in time for the 4th of July and in between making the decorations for the wedding, I found the time to make a few things. This being one of them with a border punch. I did submit this for the Spotted Canary challenge using borders.
Using the border punch, made the medallion to be hung as part of my decorations.
Instructions
STEP 1:
Cut 1 navy blue paper @ 2" Cut 2 white paper @ 3" Cut 3 red paper @ 4" Cut 6 circles to glue to the finished strips
STEP 2:
Cut 1 navy blue paper @ 2" Cut 2 white paper @ 3" Cut 3 red paper @ 4" Cut 6 circles to glue to the finished strips
STEP 3:
Score one edge of all the papers. ( I did score not by measuring but by the hills and valleys of the punch that I used)
STEP 4:
Glue the blue, white and red papers together to form a ring. Fold and while holding, squash the layer to form a circle and glue that circle to the bottom and then one to the top of each unit. Stack and glue all layers together. Cut a star to fit the center.

Wedding Invitation

After trying to decide what to do for the invitation, my daughter chose this tri-fold card. Although this is my sample, the other cards went home with her on Sunday. I did not use the Cricut for this card which is different for me.

The main card is cut @ 6.25, x 9.25. This was to fit in a folder that I had with the birds on it. I had to "dress" the folder and change the plates to put it thought the Cuttlebug. It worked fine on the sample of printer paper but then when I put the glitter paper in, the lines had torn the paper. In this photo, you cannot tell but it is a glitter paper and was hard to print because it was so thick but I finally got it through the printer.

The flower was a Spellbinders Nestabilities flower which cuts and embosses. I could cut the scraps that I trimmed from the 12" x 12" paper that was trimmed to go into my printer. A stone was added to the center of the card.

Added a ribbon and a separate bow

I was not sure how well the glitter card stock would stick together to each other so I did cut an extra flower and pasted it on the inside of the card.

Also embossed the flap of the envelope.

Cookies from the shower: This first set are the cookies that I took home and took the wrappings off to take the pictures.

This grouping of cookies were made just for the bride and groom. their initials in the color for the wedding, key and hearts, dress, and tux all were presented in a white satin basket. All the cookies done here were done by the grooms mother. In larger baskets, the closeup of the cookies that were decorated, with frosting and sugars in a tropical theme to match the decorations.

All the cookies were decorated differently and wrapped with ribbon . Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of all
because they had disappeared very fast. Great job Lynda!

Shower

Even the bride had helped with the decorations. These are the napkins that she designed. It was made also with a Lei that was cut apart. Taking a piece of ribbon, she threaded the flower through and tied it to the napkin. A basket with the napkins ready for the guests with a added ribbon to the bottom of the basket

Chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese frosting which were my favorites.

Shower

Right before the shower, I had gotten a craft idea from Martha Stewart. She put flowers on a mini light set so that is what you see in the background. I bought extra Leis and took them apart and glued them to the lights. Hard to tell that they were on in this picture. Everyone had gotten a lei when the arrived.

Yum, the bakery table all done by the grooms mother. Only a few calories and all so good.

Instead of a cake, she made three different types of cupcakes.

I made the cupcake wrappers in three colors, the one shown are raspberry cupcakes with a raspberry on top. Trying to the size for the wrappers was not as easy as it should have been. Tried several sizes first but not all cupcakes are created equal. I cut the flowers @1.5" to match the rest of the decorations. there was one light purple cut and then two of the darker purple with a toothpick in between with one flower being reversed.

The groom holding the Leis under the banner that was featured in another post. It was one of the windiest days and cooler than what it had been earlier in the week but at least the sun was shinning that day.

Shower Decorations

Sign that will help direct people to the shower. Letters are cut from Storybook @ 4.5" with the shadow feature in green. The arrow is from Going Places cut @ 11.5" and is partly hanging off the edge of the poster board which is cut a little larder than half at 15". The same flower used throughout the shower is cut @6.5" which is from Tie The Knot.
In a party store we found the next item which was a spiral with flowers attached. I took those flowers off and cut the flowers @ 6.5" and attached them using the existing cord and made them so that they are reversible.

The banner that was created was from Tie the Knot and was cut @ 11.5" in white. The purple was also banner with the shift key and cut @ 11.5". When layering, it is important that you keep the real size off!

Letters were again from Storybook cut @ 4.5". In the final project, I did not use the flowers in the corner. I thought it was too much and I liked the flowers on the bottom that were cut @ 2".

Since I had nowhere to hang the banner when I finished, I just place it on the bed. I did add an extra banner with flowers to each side of the names.
I did punch holes so that I could string ribbon through and left enough on both sides to hang. .

Will take pictures at the shower and hope that the area we have to put the banner fits

Invitations

So finally the invitations for my daughters shower are done. These are the final result after I had her visit Joann's in Pa. for her to choose the right purple.
It came to 1o different cuts from the Cricut to create, with 2 strips also cut for the band.

The first thing that I did was to choose the scalloped Invitation of page 72 of the Tie the Knot cartridge and size for it to fit in the A 2 envelope. Next was a tag to weld with the Elegant Cake "Celebrate". The tag was embossed with the Swiss Dots folder and then both sides of the invitation was done with the D'vine Swirls folder before putting it together.


The flower was from Tie the Knot and was sized in the Gypsy at 1.65" so that i could shadow at 1.75" with the lighter shade. The leaves also were cut the same size but cut two of the leaves and one was mirrored and the smaller leaf was hid. On the tag, I put the flower and the leaves were put on the envelope.

Using the computer, the info was printed and sized to fit on the bottom of the tag so that when you lifted the tag the info was located there.


I cut a strip of green card stock 1.25" and then punched both edges with a Martha Stewart punch. I could not find the right color ribbon so then I did put a 1/4" strip of the purple on the green and then the ribbon so that it would give it the right shade.

All the invitations scattered on the table before getting them put together in the envelopes.
